+ DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING FOR THE FLOAT SESSION?

You have your own private pod room equipped with your own personal shower, which you’ll use before and after your float. We supply towels, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel along with earplugs for the float. We recommend that you wear nothing in the tank as swimming costumes/ shorts press against the body and take away from the experience, however go with what makes you comfortable. For after we have provided hairdryers; hair straighteners; and you can have a complimentary herbal tea in the chill out room to continue your relaxation if you wish.

+ DO I NEED TO PREPARE IN ANY WAY?

We advise against shaving or waxing on the day of your float as the high salt content of the water can be slightly irritating to the skin. We provide Vaseline in every room for people to cover any small cuts and grazes, as they may sting. We also suggest not to have any caffeinated drinks before your float as you may not be able to rest fully and it may be an idea to have a light meal 90 minutes before to prevent any rumbling noises from your stomach which may distract you.

Anyone suffering from the following is advised not to float for their own safety as well as the safety of all our clients:

  • Epilepsy

  • You are under 18 years old.
  • You are severely sun burnt or have just had a fresh tattoo within the past week
  • You have recently dyed your hair and the water is not running clean.

+ CAN I FLOAT IF I'M PREGNANT?

Yes you can as you may find that you benefit a great deal from float therapy especially during the later stages of pregnancy, when even sleeping can cause muscle strain. The float tank can relieve this pressure by creating a buoyant environment where you can escape many of the discomforts of pregnancy and some women find that they can connect with their baby by feeling movements due to the quiet environment. However as with most activities, we do recommend checking with your doctor/ midwife first and avoiding during the first trimester. The temperature of the water is set to 34.5°c which is within the heat recommendations advised by the NHS so it is more like a warm bath rather than a hot tub.

+ CAN I FLOAT IF I'M MENSTRUATING?

Absolutely, in fact floating can greatly assist with any associated aches and pains due to the Magnesium and Epsom Salts. For hygiene reasons please follow the same process as you would for swimming, i.e wear sanitary products such as tampons or menstrual cups to ensure no leakage during the float.

+ WHAT IF I'M CLAUSTROPHOBIC?

The majority of people who have claustrophobia have reported no problems. You are in complete control of your environment so you can choose to float with the door of the tank open and with the interior light on if it makes you more comfortable, but you may find that once you’re in the water and starting to relax you close the door and turn the light off. The only issue we ever get is that some of our customers really don’t want to get out at the end of the session.

+ WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP?

You’ll feel great after, it usually means you’ve been able to reach deep relaxation and will hopefully feel completely rested. One hour in there will feel like the equivalent to 2-3 hours of deep sleep which can be a huge relief for those suffering with insomnia or jet lag. And don’t worry about drowning as the high buoyancy of the water makes it impossible for you to go beneath the surface.

+ ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Only of the positive kind! Some first time floaters can emerge from the tank feeling slightly nauseous however this is incredibly rare, and those that suffer severe sea sickness may feel the effects but follow your usual routine of prevention and all should be well! In fact because of its non-invasive and weightless nature, floating is one of the safest activities anyone can enjoy with the added benefit of replenishing the magnesium deficiency that most of us have due to depleted magnesium levels in our soil and food.

+ IS ONE FLOAT ENOUGH?

Like any activity the more you practice the better you get, this is especially true with floating. Some people take to it like ducks to water and others find they need time to get used to the environment. However the more you float the more you’ll feel the benefits which is why we offer some great membership options!

+ I'VE HEARD SOME PEOPLE FLOAT FOR HOURS AT A TIME?

Our sessions are an hour long, however you can request longer floats if you wish, and the more experienced floaters often book multiple sessions from 2 to 4 hours as the longer you are in the tank the greater the benefits.

+ IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE?

You must be over the age of 18 (children under the age of 18 are not permitted to float due to health and safety requirements).

+ HOW ARE THE PODS KEPT CLEAN?

We have always been fastidous about our cleaning from opening our doors on day one.

Between each float we aerosol the inside & outer shell of the pods, benches and shower cubicles inside & out, with a hydrogen peroxide solution of 35%. Upon contact, virons are eliminated within <0.2 data-preserve-html-node="true" seconds. This is left on for over 10 minutes and dried before a client is present in the room.

We also treat the water with the same solution of H2o2 of 35% and at a constant of 50-100 parts per million, along with the salt water which kills any bacteria and the micro filter in the pods, and the UV filter, nothing can survive, making the water perfectly safe.

The floors and handles throughout the centre are cleaned with a chlorine solution between each visit.

In addition, floaters are asked to shower before and after their session

+ CAR PARKING

There is a car park within Basepoint which has a £2 charge for 2 hours (Card only). This is run by a 3rd party company of which we have no control. You can pay via the Your Parking Space app or via this link: https://www.yourparkingspace.co.uk/locations/show/4078643183 It may be worth booking ahead to save time. Please note, that the parking prices can vary due to excessive demand. We have a QR code on our recption desk that when used, will give you the cheapest possible price, so you may use that upon arrival. We are not responsible for any fines issued for failure to pay. There is also parking just outside Basepoint along the road which also requires payment.

Please note: As we are situated close to St Marys Stadium, on match days the car park can get very busy, so you may need to park on the road or find alternative parking near by if there are no spaces. Please allow plenty of time on these days as we are unable to delay your float due to other customers.
